Quilting Level 1

We start from the beginning, teaching you about the basics of quilting.  Pressing seams in the correct direction, rotary cutting skills, and general piecing rules. In this class we will make an Ohio Star quilt block. Students must already know how to sew on a sewing machine prior to taking this class.

One - 3 hour class             $35

Dresden Plate Quilt Block

This is an old traditional block that looks great in any color palette. We will machine piece and applique this block. We will get one block done in class, and then you can go home and make as many as you would like to make your quilt as large as you'd like, or finish it off and make a pillow, like I have, or a wallhanging.
One - 3 hour classes            $30

Learn To Use the Long-arm Machine

We have an HQ-16 long-arm quilting machine, and our instructor, Patti Obyc, would love to teach you how to use it.  All supplies are included in your lesson, as you will be working on one of the quilts for My Very Own Blanket. After you have taken our class, you can rent time on the machine to quilt your own quilts. We limit the class size to 3 people, so be sure to register early!
One - 2 hour class      $25
Upcoming Class Dates:

Long-Arm Machine Rental

After you have taken our class to learn how to use the long-arm machine, you may rent time on our machines to quilt your own quilts.  It is so much faster and easier than quilting on a traditional sewing machine. Once you've used our machine, you will be hooked!
Machine Rental is $15 per hour

Contact Beth Gabel at (614)823-4100 or click on the "Contact Us" button at the top of this page to send me an email to reserve time on one of our machines.

Paper Piecing

All quilters should know how to do Paper Piecing.  It's a technique that allows you to make perfect points, and guarantees that every block is exactly the same size. Each month is a different block that teaches you the technique without consuming a lot of time. At the end of 12 months, you will have 12 blocks to either put together into a quilt top, or you can make separate mini wall-hangings and switch them out each month.
One - 3 hour class            $30

Crayon Quilt

Our Crayon Quilt allows you to use up some of those small scraps of fabrics you have in your stash. And if you don't have a stash, we can provide a kit full of enough of the colored fabrics for you to make this quilt for an additional $20 kit fee. We will only be making the quilt top in this class, and not finishing the quilt.
Two - 2.5 hour classes           $50
Upcoming Class Dates:

T-Shirt Quilt

Learn how to take all of those treasured shirts and make a memory quilt that will last a lifetime. A t-shirt quilt is very different from traditional quilts. We'll help you get your quilt top made and then suggest ways to finish your quilt. There will be homework between the classes in order to finish this project.
